Question about a flash banner menu I saw

I have been trying to figure out how to make these for a while now. It's basically a scrollable banner menu where you can see different banners of upcoming events.

Honestly, although flash banners are really cool on the eyes, it is not recommended anymore for a few reasons:

Number 1: People on iphones and blackberries cannot see flash.

Number 2: Google can only kind of parse through flash.

Number 3: It makes page load times longer.

These are some reasons that I stopped using flash altogether... not worth the "pretty" factor and it can almost always be avoided.
