I have several years of novice experience with CSS and HTML. That's not what I need help with.
Unfortunately, I have a much lamer question, lol. So, I'm used to using free web hosts, where you click "add a new page" and put your code in a box. I'm using Dreamweaver to build my portfolio website (http://nicoledobbins.com), which is obviously completely different.
I'm using cPanel X, and I've slipped all my graphics into the file manager using the webdisk feature, where I drag and drop from a folder on my PC straight into my file manager.
So anyway, my problem: I want the links on my home page to actually work. I want it to be like http://www.nicoledobbins.com/aboutme.html
So I built the website in my WYSIWYG (Dreamweaver), pushed it through, all the images etc. and when I double click on the aboutme.html file in my file manager, on cPanel, it works just fine. Except, when I double click it does a popup and says that it's a VBScript Script File and offers to open it in Firefox. When it opens, the address bar says "file:///C:/Users/CJ/AppData/Local/Temp/aboutme-1.html"
When I click on the About Me button on my home page, (the a href url on the home page button is: http://nicoledobbins.com/aboutme.html), I get a 404. No matter what subfolder I put in (....com/public_html/aboutme.html for example), I still get a 404.
So, how do I get my WYSIWYG .html files to become an actual webpage, to which I may link?
