equalcolumns script -1px?

I'm having an issue with background-bottom on one of my divs since adding this equalcolumns.js script. It puts an extra pixel at the bottom (beneath my background) in IE. I was hoping someone could help me alter the script to subtract one pixel from the height this calculates (only in IE if possible) so that I can test it to ensure it is the root of my issue.
