Desparately need help with layout!

Hey everyone,

So I am in the process of making my first website, for a school project! As expected, I have run into problems, which I am at a loss on how to fix. I have implemented jquery in my website. Particularly, I am having trouble with this page:

Anytime you hover over the navigation menu, everything below it shifts down...very irritating. The animated menu is from here (http://buildinternet.com/2009/01/how-to-make-a-smooth-animated-menu-with-jquery/)

I would really really appreciate if someone could help me out of this mess, and perhaps recommend how I could better organize my page. Thanks a lot everyone!

I didn't notice the shifting you were talking about. I checked it in IE just in case it was a browser thing and no luck duplicating your problem. I did however notice two things. In IE8 your menu has bullets show up in it. In IE7, your spacing in the menu is all screwed up.
