Ecommerence Software Solution

Im currently developing a website for a computer company, that wants the customer to be able to customize the computer to there needs, and then submit the order. I was wondering what are some solutions to make this work. I was looking at other websites to get ideas how they have theirs set up but nothing indicates a central framework even though they all function similarly.

Any ideas on how i could manage this?

Use a CMS with a cart

Drupal has such a cart (Ubercart) which will help you in your quest. Still a massive learning curve though
