Artist is looking for help with his online gallery

I have a site for my art (paintings and prints), but I want to upgrade the e-commerce portion of my site. I want the client to be able to have different selections available when they are choosing a painting or print to purchase. i.e. I want to be able to have an interface that allows for choosing stretched canvas vs. unstreched; framed vs no frame; print on canvas vs print on paper, etc. I've seen other art sites that utilize these types of features, but I've been having some trouble finding the best method to accomplish this. Is anyone aware of any open source items that might help? I've tried various shopping carts, but have not found the right fit. I can supply links to show what I am trying to accomplish. Thanks!

Your best bet for this would be Drupal. Its an open source CMS. The Cart module which you plug-in is called Ubercart and it offers complete etail functionality with numerous payment gateway options. You get a product content type with whats called a class. A class could be likened to a department where you can assign products to each one. Also you can add attributes to each product like shirt size etc. You could use that option to cover your requirement of canvas vs. unstreched; framed vs no frame; size etc

Drupal is a monster. Its a Content Management Framework which you theme up to eventually become a CMS. Its like swimming through treacle at times.

Conclusion

Once you have taken time to learn what its about (This will take time. I promise you) and spent enough time with it you could make a fantastic site.
