So years ago, maybe circa 2000-2002, I forgot, I managed to teach myself HTML and basic PHP and SSI. I managed to be able to make a website.

But now, I don't even know how to use <table> and forgot the difference of body, head, title, etc.

I know there's sites that can host my photos, but I want to host it myself.

I want to be able to do something similar to http://www.mareenfischinger.com/ as in, be able to drag my photos from left to right. I'm not that big of a fan of having a random section loaded each time you visit the website.

I know scriptaculous is being used, but tbh, I'm having a hard time understanding albeit ive only been trying for a few hours.

My question is, how hard is this going to take? Is this a high-level project or would I manage with some decent learning/trial-and-error (its how i learned at first)?

That site has been written using the JS prototype framework

http://www.prototypejs.org

Learning is not based on difficulty its based on how you take on information and retain that information. The thing is that, it all takes time. I have met many who have an idea and in turn an excitement to bring that idea to life, but once they realise how much work is involved they move on to other things.

Building a site like that would possibly only take a few weeks but learning the skills needed will extend those weeks to a few months +

Its a great project and one which will help you gain the skills needed to develop sites in the future
