Position text in a table

I put a couple websites together a few years ago and now working on a personal site for our family. I'm trying to get some text for links to be positioned in the middle of my table but not having any success. I've tried valign and no help, what am I missing? Thanks for any help and I can post my code if needed/allowed.

Tables align content in the middle vertically as a default, so you shouldn't need to use valign="top" which takes content to the top of the cell.
