Good Tutorials?

Hi.. I'm rather new to PHP and trying to create more of a dynamic site..

What I want to do is set up table with a schedule using a database table on MYSQL.. I have tried and researched with no luck. I can connect to the DB , but it clears out all the HTML/CSS i have written and displays nothing on the page.

I need it to loop through and shoot back all the dates marked active =true.. I am lost!

I have MYSQL set up through GoDaddy.

Anyone know of any good tutorials to help me figure it out?
