I'm currently working on redeveloping and designing an e-commerce web site for a client. It hosts a little over 2,000 products, and is currently built in ASP. Everything is ASP (descriptions, prices, images, etc.), with the exception of maybe 2 or 3 static pages.

Competing companies' sites have just floored this one particular one in SEO/ranking, and besides updating the design and content, the client wants to come back up in the rankings. The question is:

What language(s) should the web site be built in to increase SEO, but maintain ease-of-use for updating/adding new products for an e-commerce web site of 2,000+ products?

We're currently hosted on a Windows VPS, so there should be no language restrictions.

The language its written in has nothing to do with SEO. You need to research your SEO techniques and invest in some of google's pay per click malarkey ... here (http://www.google.com/webmasters/index2.html)
