PNG image not supported by browser

I am just wondering about png support in certain browser. I recently made a website with png images for all the backgrounds. I can view it fine in my IE browser but it is not displaying for my client.

Does anyone know a solution for this, should I switch the images to gif? Is browsers not supporting png rare?

Most of the current browser versions support PNGs but id use JPG and GIF until the world catches up
