I already know basic HTML. I want to eventually make a website like this one (http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/). If you skip the intro video you can see that it has various tabs that allow you to go to different sections of the website such as screenshots. I was wondering if a website that functions similarly can be made without using flash with functions such as tabs or sections or fadeout or similar transition effects between tabs. I would like to know what I should learn for such a website. Thanks.

That website was created in flash. if you right click on it you can see. you will need to learn flash animation and flash actionscrip if you would like to learn how to create that website.

Flas has nothing to do with HTML and how a website is usually created plus its also not accessible for website crawlers so therefore bad for SEO.

You can do some simialr tricks with Javascript. if you have a look at my site Steam Multimedia (http://www.steammultimedia.com) you can that it has motion on it that was all done by using javascript libraries. which means its onsite and can be accessible for search engines unless it site within the javascript code.

Hope that helps. any questions let me know
