I'm trying to do a website in-house for the company I work for, I would appreciate any comments critcal or not and tips on how to improve it to avoid getting the sack :P

The most imnportant thing you can do to improve the site: Make the text actual text and not a picture of text. Search engines index text, and without any on the page there isn't really anything for them to index. It also can help sight impaired people to use the site as they can enlarge text, if necessary and page reader software can read the text for blind people.
