Determine is user is human?

Hello all,

I have recently been getting some spam mail generated from bots cruising my sites. Would a "Are you a human?" checkbox suffice? Or are bots too smart for that? I don't want to use CAPTCHA because I find those to be annoying. What other method could I use?

I have seen people using a method like this.

4 + 11 = [ENTER ANSWER HERE]

And the math questions would be random, so the bots could memorize it and repeat it. Seems to work well too.

And yes the bots would pick up on the check box.
