General resource site

Hello everyone. I just registered and I'm brand new to web design.

I'm working on a project for my web design program, and having a little trouble finding a good resource website to draw from. I'm mainly looking for illustrations and images (public domain of course) at this point, but it'd be nice to find a reputable site for future use.

I guess I'm looking for suggestions from veteran web designers as far as which sites they frequent, or have found useful. If I've missed an obvious sticky I apologize.

Have I said something wrong? Is the question too broad?

I'm just looking for suggestions on websites that have proven useful to web designers whilst designing sites, be they stockpiles of public domain images / graphics, or other types of support.
