Content Management- Host 500+ websites with same look and feel

Hello all,

I'm a web developer but I've gotten into an area that I'm just plain not familiar with. If someone wanted to host websites and they were all going to look the same except for some of the content would be unique, what's the best way to go about that? I'd prefer an open source alternative if such an alternative exists, but I'll look at and consider others as well.

If I'm not being clear, let me know and I'll try to explain further. Again, I'm headed into uncharted territory here but I need to find out the best way to do it.

i noticed there were no replied here, i hope im not too late, but i would heavily reccomend a product called "Joomla!", its amazing for content maganement.
