automatically generate web page for new users

Does anyone have any suggestions for ways to setup a new user login so that a personalized page is generated for the user? I am thinking of generating a new subdirectory and populating it with a template and possibly a CSS page. I will use mySQL and user supplied images to generate the content.

Just wanted to check if there are any other suggestions.
