Jump menus

I'm kind of new to web design and I have learnt very basic stuff at school. I'm kind of messing about with new things and I have just put a jump menu into a page using DW 8. When I view it in IE7, I can click part of the jump menu (3/4 of it) but not where the arrow is to make it open the menu. Can someone tell me how to fix this please.
