Hi guys,
I am creating a simple website for an artist who is trying to sell her prints online.
I have been poking around this forum trying to get the basics of e-commerce, and I kept seeing this list:
1. A shopping cart of some kind.
2. A merchant account.
3. An SSL Certificate.
4. A dedicated IP address on your website.
Is anyone familiar with Mercantec? They provide e-commerce solutions and services to small and medium-sized businesses worldwide...and offer a free E-Commerce Express solution.
My question is, by using Mercantec, combined with a Google Merchant account, does that eliminate my need for an SSL cert. and dedicated IP?
If I simply inserted the code onto my client's page (never leaving her site), would that be a SECURE solution?
-if so, for such a simple need, does this approach make sense?
-or would I be better off getting SSL/dedIP and charging my client for those? (small budget!)
Big Thanks in advance for any help I may get!
Andy
