Flash ... help!

I am a student at college in the United Kingdom studying a National Diploma in IT. From september one of the modules I will be studying is flash, so I thought i'd get ahead of the game and teach myself. I have taught myself the basics but have encountered a problem:

I have created an automatic slideshow which will take up the whole screen as a background. I have then put flash buttons at the top. I want to make the website work so when the user clicks on one of the links a box with text appears in the middle of the same window (sort of how html frames work).

I have found a website that does:
