Directory Domain name .com or.info?

I want to buy a domain name for a directory I am about to start, and a friend of mine who has been webmaster for a long time advise me to buy a .com domain name because it will sell better that other domain name. For me I want to buy a .info domain name, so I want to know if it is true that .com domain name will sell better than .info domain name for my propose directory.
