Hi there:
I'm wondering whether there is any UI pattern or best practices available on how to design a web page that has two step actions. First is "search a record" and then the next is "update".
E.g.:
Let us say it is a school administration software having all web based administrations.
The Administrator has to often search a student record and update with grades, attendance, extra curricular activities, etc.
"Search + update grade" is the action of "Update Grade" menu item.
"Search + update attendance" is the action of "Attendance" menu item.
"Search + update activities" is the action of "Update Extra activity" menu item.
Search will be usually based on Last Name, First Name, Class, Student Id.
Thank you,
Vimala.
