disappearing javascript

Suddenly all my programs that use javascript dont work.
I just went to Microsoft site, clicked on support page and got the following message:

JavaScript is Not Enabled
You are receiving this message because you do not have JavaScript enabled.

To enable JavaScript in Internet Explorer 5.0, 5.01, 5.5, and 6:
On the Tools menu, click Internet Options, and then click the Security tab.
For the Web content zone, select Internet, and then click Custom Level.
In the Security Settings window, scroll down to the "Scripting" section, and then click to select Enable or Prompt for both the "Active scripting" and "Scripting of Java applets" settings.
Click OK, and then click OK again.

I did this for the fourth time and the settings are enabled and the security is medium level like it always was. Whassa goin on? Should activex items be enabled? Would Microsoft do this to encourage upgrading to XP? Anyone have suggestions?

Are you using Internet Explorer 6? If yes then I suggest you follow this tutorial and see if it fixes it:
