Creating pages using php

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone knew of any tutorials or even an explanation of how files are made in PHP im looking on the lines of how a WIKIPEDIA page is made. Is wiki for example made by writing files to the server or are they made dynamicly from a database?

Does any one know any good tutorials on making good static pages with PHP i have done some work with basic files html etc but would like to see more advanced uses of PHP writing files.
