Help with overlay (div) codes

Hey, im trying to figure out something where on a website like myspace or xanga where you can make a site and put it as an overlay over the layer below it.

I found this code that kinda works

<div class="content" style="position: absolute; left:000px; top:000px; width:000px; height:100%; overflow: visible;"><center>
lalalalala this is your content!
</div>
however i cant get it to hide the layer beneith it.
Anybody able to help me?
