New Web Site Help

I am a startup .com, currently selling on ebay, and want to venture into my own site. I have done some limited research, and quite frankly I do not know how to find a qualified site developer, ie one that I can feel comfortable with. Can someone please provide some tips on what to look for, or any other recommendations? Thanks!

Look for some one that has some similar work to what you want done. Any good web designer/developer will have a portfolio of work you can look at and will be able to point you to several sites they did for you to look at and judge their work by. If they can't show you stuff, or what they show you is too amaturish your chances of success are less. Also you might want to avoid people who work on the high end of the scale as well, as they're probably out of your price range as well as your needs being below their usual work range.
