Problem with page layout and links

Hi,

Im a PHP coder who has to work with a layout made out of tables. There is an image in the layout, a button, that I need to make a link out of it. Without the <a href=....></a> it looks fine:

</td>

But with it, it looks bad:

How can I fix this?
