Adding a member area that allows uploads . . .

I have one last detail to add to a website for a client. They want a password protected page that allows to upload documents (mainly Word or PDF). They want only certain members to be able to upload documents. I'm not stuck on the password protected page. Just stuck on how to create an online file folder/FTP area for members with the proper password and the uploaded files would show up in an area all members could download.

Does anyone know of an easy solution for this? I'm a designer and not a programmer. I've thought about various solutions and I just can't come up with anything that works! There is a bulletin board that is pre-installed as part of the web hosting service but it doesn't allow attachments.

Just for a quick script download one from hotscripts or somewhere. Sounds like the most simple advice ever but there's loads of free file uploading scripts out there. If you want to do it yourself there will be a tutorial somewhere mind.
